The dog (robot), the soldier’s best friend?

robot1According to Wired, the U.S. military would have sponsored the development of a prototype robot dog, to assist the soldiers on the ground.

Primarily devoted to carrying ammunition or food, the robot will seek to take advantage of decades of research in bio-mimetic, but will also build on the success of the most famous dog-robots, intelligent toy Aibo from Sony.

It will be especially with a high degree of autonomy, both behavioral as energy. Two companies share the budget of the military robot dog, estimated at 2.25 million: Yobotics specialist robotic legs, and Boston Dynamics, which develops long-time 3D simulation models for the army.
