HRP-2 humanoid robot is in Toulouse from May 22 this year at the Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS) of CNRS. Born in Japan in 2003, measuring 1.54 m and a weight of 58 kg, is one of fifteen such robots developed by AIST (National Institute of Science and Technology of Advanced Industrial) under of the Humanoid Robotics Project, a large research program in robotics led to the initiative of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
Leaving for the first time in nippon archipelago, this “platform of humanoid robotics”, manufactured by Kawada Industries, will allow the development of fourteen research projects lasting two to three years, from a dozen d ‘French teams. Other projects will soon enrich the work on what became a platform for research-oriented ones.
The model LAAS is part of the HRP-2 family, including manufacturers like Honda and Toyota already operating platforms operating in their factories. But here there is a particular platform, designed specifically for basic research in robotics.
