Fernando Orellana and Brendan Burns have collaborated on the project Sleep Waking robot. The brain activity related to eye movement, the REM – rapid eye movement is recorded and these data are transmitted in two ways.
First movement of the eye are applied to the positioning of the head if eye movement is left, the robot will look to the left. Then algorithmic models are identified from samples of data and behaviors associated with pre-programmed models are then used as filters to process the data set. The result of the robot behavior is directly related to the intensity of brain activity induced by the actions of the dream: dynamic versus calm the robot plays the dream possible sleeper.
