Brain-Net is a neuropathological reference work, for diseases of the central nervous system such as Alzheimer`s, Depression, Parkinson’s disease, Schizophrenia, and others. Brain tissue samples will be collected, diagnosed by specialists, and stored. These samples will be made available to other researchers upon request through a database in the internet. The iAS has been assigned the technical coordination as well as the design and construction of the user interface. Because iAS is also responsible for the technical implementation of Knowledge Network Parkinson, the two Neuro-MedNets can be coordinated. |
| Why the Brain-Net is necessary Our knowledge concerning the biochemistry of the brain is increasing, leading to ever new insights into the genetics of brain diseases, as well as to a deeper understanding of functional anatomy – due to various imaging techniques. Consequently, brain and tissue banking is much needed in order to improve the quality of work in neurology and psychiatries. |

Welcome to interActive Systems – Knowledge Network Parkinson
| On January 15, 1999, the German government decided to sponsor nine medical competence networks, among them the Kowledge Network Parkinson. For this network, iAS has taken on the responsibility of the network technology and the design of the user interfaces. Please click below to go to Knowledge Network Parkinson. | |
| What is Parkinson? The idiopathic Parkinson syndrome (Parkinson disease) is the most common affectation of the basal ganglia. It is caused by a damage of the neurons in the substantia nigra inducing a shortage of dopamine in the striatum. |

The transformation of accumulated information into actual knowledge is a matter of central importance for the iAS. But how is information turned into knowledge? Or, more generally, how does a society based on information become a society based on knowledge? To start with, we need to join the databases of technical information with those of semantical information, to lay the foundation for a new system of knowledge. The prerequisite for this step is an intelligent and uniform system that can navigate through and visualize the decentralized databases. Only then can a large amount of data be structured clearly enough to reveal correlations, making it possible to merge the fragmentary pieces of information into real knowledge. The iAS is highly competent in this field. At present, iAS develops a high security system which is required for the FDA-conform input of scientific data within the scope of clinical studies. |
Welcome to interActive Systems – Scientific Model
| By the way – place a scientific model into a new other context for special effects, for example: The Isle of Cortex |
