The robots push the door of the house

They walk, talk, recognize faces and become more sociable. Gone is the dream of science fiction: the robots have become reality and begin to integrate our daily lives. In factories, they perform technical tasks and at home, they want to keep us company or help us with household chores. Even if not all aspects of humanoids Hollywood. “The robot is in a situation comparable to that of early computers,” said Jerome Damelincourt, store manager Rob polis specializes in robotics. We have no idea yet what it will be in twenty years when the first computers arrived, it was not invented Word or Excel, or video games, much less the Internet. The role will have the robot in a few years remains a mystery. One can imagine that help children do their homework, we will replace it for the work boring, or that fits in everyday objects such as television or appliances. Read more »

Robot is present in many international research programmes

http://www.fujitsu.com/img/PR/2005/20050913-05LavBlueL.jpgIn the USA, most federal agencies support programs in robotics. For example, with NASA missions and Sojourner Martiennes, NSF whose various programmes display thematic Robea, mainly in the division CISE ($ 190M budget in 2001), or DARPA. Most American universities have teams and laboratories in the field (particularly those referenced on this site), like the Robotics Institute of Carnegie-Mellon University, which concentrates more than 200 researchers in 25 projects ranging from exploration or planetary polar driving. It should be pointed out effort R & D industrial robotics in the USA. Thus the work of CMU develops and builds on the Robotics Consortium Pittsburgh. The Japan mobilizes ambitious projects in the field. The program launched in Humanoid Robot 98 (50 million over 5 years) is significant research efforts of this country, efforts that extend through activities of industrial R & D intensive (Sony, Honda, etc). Robots are among us

http://www.gearfuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/usb-robot-light-sensor_7767.jpgUnder the cries of 60 000 rampaging soccer fans, the Brazilian goalkeeper Dida fix its target, conducts a long clearance and, as expected, Ronaldhino seizes the ball. In a performance that is both art, magic and the perfection of sporting gesture, the athlete starts in a ballet dribbles which stuns the defensive opponent. From the corner of the eye, he saw Ronaldo, demarcated, which darkens the goal. In a split second, his brain compiles data: the speed of his teammate, distance, trajectory and the tension he must give his password, the point of impact, and all this during that it is itself a full course. Contact! The ball leaves his foot and is in an arc just above a defender. Ronaldo jumped, and the head, redirect the pass perfect in the skylight. But Brazil! Considering the complexity of equations that describe such a sequence of the game, the computing power necessary to solve them instantly biomechanics and agility required to perform each of these gestures, one can not help thinking that only the human machine can accomplish such a prodigy. Time-scaling control for an under actuated biped robot

Posted in 3a on July 26th, 2008 by admin

http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2007/07/06/ROBOTS_narrowweb__300x345,0.jpgThis paper presents a control law for the tracking of a cyclic reference trajectory by an under actuated biped robot. The robot studied is a five-link planar robot. The degree of under actuation is one during the single support phase. The control law is defined in such a way that only the geometric evolution of the robot is controlled, not the temporal evolution. To achieve this objective, we consider a time-scaling control. For a given reference path, the temporal evolution during the geometric tracking is completely defined and can be analyzed through the study of the dynamic model. Read more »
