Honda connects the brain to robot

Posted in 3d on August 5th, 2008 by admin

The Japanese Honda, in particular specialized in industrial robots, has demonstrated the use of a scanner for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI or magnetic resonance imaging) that detects brain signals and transmit them to a robot in order to drive Hand artificially. Lorsque the person in the MRI has waved his hand and made the sign ‘V’, the robot’s hand movements has reproduced! The system is still limited to the detection of a few simple gestures, and it will take time before being decoded complex movements. Similarly, we have to evolve singularly PMI technologies to reduce the size and weight. However, the “brain machine interface ‘, the interface between the human brain and machine, developed by Honda Research Institute Japan, opens up new perspectives. Read more »

Sony draws a line under Aibo robotic

Posted in 3d on August 4th, 2008 by admin

chien Aibo Sony has announced the cessation of production of Aibo, the famous robot dog that can monitor your home when you’re not here to speak with a vocabulary of more than 1000 words and even, for latest developments, keep a blog! Launched in 1999, the Aibo adventure stops, lack of profitability, such as Qrio, the humanoid robot from Sony, which has never been marketed. Despite some 150 000 copies sold (unit price: about 2000 dollars), the pack of robots Aibo is not consistent enough to justify the cost it involves developments, especially on the segment of the general public robotics The competition - including American - prepares its weapons. Robots à commandes vocales Meccano Spykee Vox et Spykee Miss

Spykee introduced Spykee Vox and Spykee Miss, each apparently aimed at a specific gender. Each robot has an iPod dock, but it seems that is also compatible with other MP3 players. Vox and Miss are designed to obey the commands in English, French and Spanish (a language at a time) and can use its infrared module to control many appliances (TV, mini-stereo…). The user can customize it further by creating new movements and sounds on a PC or a Mac. Read more »

Un robot portraitisteYou know these street artists who look to have more talent than those in the local art gallery? Well, now you can have your own portrait done by a robot, instead of relying on human talent, thanks to the efforts of the researcher Sylvain Calinon. The developed robot can recognize a face in his field of vision, taking a digital photo and extracting the main features of the face. Once algorithms are en route, the robot will operate automatically as a tracer curves X / Y, by increasing the details slowly but surely. Read more »

http://www.gearfuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/usb-robot-light-sensor_7767.jpgUnder the cries of 60 000 rampaging soccer fans, the Brazilian goalkeeper Dida fix its target, conducts a long clearance and, as expected, Ronaldhino seizes the ball. In a performance that is both art, magic and the perfection of sporting gesture, the athlete starts in a ballet dribbles which stuns the defensive opponent. From the corner of the eye, he saw Ronaldo, demarcated, which darkens the goal. In a split second, his brain compiles data: the speed of his teammate, distance, trajectory and the tension he must give his password, the point of impact, and all this during that it is itself a full course. Contact! The ball leaves his foot and is in an arc just above a defender. Ronaldo jumped, and the head, redirect the pass perfect in the skylight. But Brazil! Considering the complexity of equations that describe such a sequence of the game, the computing power necessary to solve them instantly biomechanics and agility required to perform each of these gestures, one can not help thinking that only the human machine can accomplish such a prodigy.
